Thank you to everyone who attended the County Planning Commission hearing showing your support for the Dutra Haystack Landing project!  The strong show of support demonstrates that the community is rallying to help highlight the benefits of this project to Petaluma and Sonoma County. The Planning Commission hearing focused solely on the Noise Element in the General Plan regarding barge operations. Thank you to all the speakers who not only commented supporting the Dutra proposal, but also pointed out that barging the rock material needed for asphalt provides great benefits to the community including:

1. Reducing truck traffic on Highway 101 by eliminating over 21,000 trucks per year through barging operations
2. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
3. Supporting the industrial and commercial uses of the Petaluma River required to secure continued funding of $4 million by the federal government to dredge the Petaluma River every 4 years

Thanks to all of you, there were more green “YES on Haystack Landing” stickers on shirts than those opposing the project!  We appreciated all the support and let’s keep up this momentum!
